LABORATORY TECHNICIAN IN NICOSIA

DESCRIPTION

 This role involves collecting, analysing, and recording samples or substances using specialized testing equipment. Additionally, the Laboratory Technician will perform administrative tasks as required for the small lab’s functioning and may be involved in long-term plans for the laboratory’s expansion.

Working hours:

Monday-Friday 07:45am to 15:00pm

Saturday from 07:45am to 12:30pm

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sample Collection and Analysis:

  • Collect, receive, label, and analyze samples or substances using appropriate testing equipment when necessary.
  • Conduct tests following verified procedures and meticulously record observations.

Data Recording:

  • Record all experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format, both written and electronic.

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines and protocols at all times within the laboratory.
  • Organize and store chemical substances and fluids according to safety instructions.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Clean, sterilize, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain daily logs and equipment record books.

Supply Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and order laboratory supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to colleagues and researchers when required.

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay up-to-date with relevant scientific and technical developments to enhance expertise.

Side Duties 

  • Undertake administrative tasks as required for the functioning of the small lab.
  • Be adaptable and open to altering duties as defined by the supervisor, as the lab’s demands change.
  • Understand that future plans involve expanding the laboratory’s role in the field, which may require advanced knowledge in social psychology and business practices. You will receive assistance and training for this transition.

basic information:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
  • Prior laboratory experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and protocols meticulously.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new techniques.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to laboratory guidelines.
  • Flexibility to undertake additional administrative duties as needed.
  • Openness to training and development for potential future roles within the laboratory
